92 an hour 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago Summary Objective Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to perform electrical, plumbing, air condition maintenance and general repairs and other duties as assigned at the Braithwaite Center for Active Aging.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.
Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Perform general and specialized tasks in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of buildings, decks, signs and equipment.
Perform minor electrical repairs, light bulb and ballast replacement, air condition preventive maintenance, painting, and floor repairs.
Perform minor plumbing repairs, dripping faucets, leaky pipes, running toilets, low water pressure, leaking hose bib, slow or clogged toilets and drains, sump pump failure, water heater problems.
Perform general carpenter work.
Build and install wall metal framing, drywall, drywall mud and sand.
Install doors and door closures.
Maintain security and fire alarm systems.
Pressure clean and paint Work with tools and supplies necessary to complete projects.
Inspect and evaluate the condition of facility equipment to ensure every item is safe and in proper working order for users as well as general public.
Assists with the preparation, mitigation and recovery of emergency events such as hurricanes/storms.
Required to serve on the City Emergency Management Operations Team which may involve continuous assignment (24-hours/day) at a secure facility or in the field.
In addition to normal working hours will be required to be in the on-call rotation for a one-week duration per month for after-hour emergencies.
Maintain a complete inventory of equipment assigned to facility.
Order tools and supplies as needed.
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Typical Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of building maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Knowledge and practices, methods, materials and tools of one or more of the building trades.
Ability to work from blueprints and rough sketches.
Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with city employees and the public.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and facilities work order management software PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
WORK HOURS Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the City).
